DARKBEACON GUIDE

Create and move profiles

Manage onboard, local, and cloud relationships; use presets; import or export; and restore a known default safely.

Applies to: DarkBeacon App, Steampunk, Other supported wireless keyboards shown in the App

What you will accomplish

Create a local profile (A reusable set of settings stored by the App on the current computer), decide when to use cloud sync (Upload or retrieve eligible account content over the network after signing in) or a preset (A ready-made set of settings that can be applied and adjusted), and move or restore content without losing the last known-good copy.

Steps

Steps
  1. Open the current device and select My Profiles.
  2. Choose New Profile and select the closest visible starting preset.
  3. Enter a purpose-based profile name, then choose Continue.
  4. Configure keys, macros, lighting, advanced keys, and Gamepad Movement Shaping when available. Preview instead of overwriting your only usable profile.
  5. Confirm the target device and selected profile, then save to device (Store the current settings on the device so they remain after the App disconnects or power is restored) and wait for success.
  6. Export before moving the profile. After importing on another computer, check the model, available entries, and preview result.
  7. If signed in, decide whether to upload. Preserve both local and cloud copies before resolving a conflict.
  8. Before restoring defaults, export the current profile. Preview the restored state, then save only after it is correct.

Confirm success

Profiles have clear names, the selected profile matches the visible device state, and imported content shows no unsupported-item warning.

Save result

Creating, importing, or uploading changes App-managed content first. Device behavior persists independently only after a successful device save.

Limits and cautions

An imported profile cannot add capabilities to another model. Keep unsupported items at a safe default instead of forcing an overwrite.

Recovery

Switch back to the last confirmed profile and save it again. Restore a bad import or default operation from the export created before the change.
