Adjust wireless power and sleep
Balance battery runtime and wake responsiveness on Steampunk and other supported wireless keyboards shown in the App.
Applies to: Steampunk, Other supported wireless keyboards shown in the App
What you will accomplish
Use adaptive power (Device behavior that balances wireless energy use, idle sleep, and wake responsiveness) settings to balance wireless battery runtime, lighting, display behavior, and wake responsiveness.
Applies to
Steps
- Charge the device, select its wireless connection, and open Power or Sleep settings.
- Note the current idle timeout, lighting behavior, and display behavior.
- Begin with the default or a middle idle timeout. Avoid the shortest timeout while testing connection stability.
- Reduce lighting brightness or animation before using an unusually short sleep timeout solely to extend runtime.
- Apply one change, leave the device idle, then wake it with an ordinary key. Check reconnection time and whether the first intended input is handled safely.
- Repeat over the connection mode you normally use.
- When the balance is acceptable, save to device (Store the current settings on the device so they remain after the App disconnects or power is restored).
Confirm success
The device sleeps after the expected idle period, wakes reliably, resumes the intended connection, and does not lose the saved profile or lighting state.
Save result
Power behavior is a device setting. Confirm save success and repeat one sleep-and-wake cycle after the App is closed.
Limits and cautions
Observed battery runtime depends on brightness, animation, display use, radio conditions, polling activity, and battery condition. Do not promise a fixed runtime from one setting.
Recovery
Restore the default timeout and moderate lighting, reconnect by USB, and save again. If wake remains unreliable, separate the connection problem from the power setting before further tuning.
