Understand advanced key behaviors

Choose a press-detection, two-key conflict, or key-action behavior using only the controls the App shows for your keyboard.

What you will understand

Understand how Rapid Trigger (Dynamic press and release behavior that resets according to key movement instead of one fixed release point), Rapid Shot (RS) (A two-key behavior that gives output priority to the selected key pressed farther), Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions (SOCD) (The selected result when opposite directional inputs are active together), Dynamic Key Switching (DKS) (A key behavior that assigns different actions to different stages of one press and release), Multi-function Click (MT) (A key behavior that produces one action on a quick click and another action when held through the selected threshold), and Toggle (TGL) (A key behavior whose continuous or latched output must have a clearly tested stop action) answer different configuration questions.

Core explanation

Think about advanced keys as three separate questions.

  1. How should the press be detected? Ordinary actuation uses a fixed activation point. Rapid Trigger changes activation and reset according to key movement while keeping the action already assigned to the key. See Configure Rapid Trigger.
  2. When two selected keys overlap, which key should act? Rapid Shot compares how far the pair is pressed. SOCD applies a selected opposite-direction rule. See Configure Rapid Shot (RS) and Configure Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions (SOCD).
  3. What should one selected key do? DKS assigns actions to visible press and release phases. MT chooses between a quick click and a deliberate hold. See Configure Dynamic Key Switching (DKS) and Configure Multi-function Click (MT).

The App may offer a press-detection choice together with another behavior. The combined result is supported only when both controls remain visible for the selected key. Do not infer a combination from another model or profile.

RT does not override every other setting. Disable in Remap prevents the key's configured keyboard behavior from acting; an enabled key with Clear Key Value has no output but may still take priority in an RS/SOCD pair. Ordinary keyboard remapping can change a pair member's output. DKS, MT and Toggle use their own action assignments rather than adding an ordinary mapping alongside them.

An earlier RT release can change an MT click-versus-hold decision or end a shallow DKS sequence. For macros, release follows the macro's selected trigger mode instead of always stopping playback immediately. Toggle appears in current App, but its detailed public procedure is withheld while its click, hold, stop, and layer results are reconciled. Do not rely on an older description as a substitute.

Main-layer and Fn-layer assignments can differ, but the current App shares RT settings for each physical key across both layers. Release every involved key before changing layers during a first test, then confirm the destination layer independently.
