DARKBEACON GUIDE
Run basic hardware troubleshooting
Check calibration, cable quality, USB power, another computer, and the physical environment before escalating a keyboard problem.
Applies to: Blade keyboards (61, 68, 84, 87, and 100), Flux keyboards (61, 68, 84, 87, and 100), Flux 68, Flux 84, and Flux 87 regional models, Devil Breaker and related keyboards, Steampunk, Other supported wireless keyboards shown in the App
Symptoms
The keyboard disconnects, misses input, behaves inconsistently, receives unstable power, or works differently on another USB port or computer.
Applies to
Use these checks for a dry, undamaged keyboard. Start with a stable direct USB connection and a known-good data cable.
For a spill, start with Respond to a liquid spill. If only one key is affected, use Troubleshoot one key or switch. If the App cannot detect the keyboard, start with Device detection troubleshooting.
Low-risk checks
- If key travel is inconsistent and the model supports guided calibration, follow Calibrate Hall-effect key travel for the procedure and verification steps.
- Inspect both cable ends and the keyboard connector for looseness, debris, or damage. Use the supplied cable or a short, high-quality USB data cable.
- Connect directly to a computer USB port. Avoid docks and hubs while diagnosing, even if a powered hub normally works.
- Try another rear motherboard port on a desktop. Keep a laptop connected to its power adapter during the test.
- Test the same cable and keyboard on another computer in a different location.
- Move magnets, magnetic surfaces, and high-power appliances away from Hall-effect keyboards during the comparison.
- Change only one factor at a time and record whether the symptom follows the keyboard, cable, port, computer, or environment.
Recovery steps
Keep the known-good cable and port combination. Recalibrate only when the symptom and model call for it; repeated calibration is not a substitute for fixing unstable power or physical damage.
Stop conditions
Stop if the connector is damaged, power drops repeatedly, the device becomes hot, or the same physical symptom remains on another computer with a known-good cable.
Contact support
Provide the model, cable, USB port type, power source, calibration result, second-computer result, and any nearby magnetic or high-power equipment.
